2026 ANNUAL PARTNERS IN EDUCATION CAMPAIGN

Dear Friends of Conservation:

As we celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Cataraqui Conservation Foundation, we wanted to thank you, the community, and our loyal Partners in Education donators for your support of the Foundation and Cataraqui Conservation!

For 60 years, your support has funded education programs for children, preserved environmental properties, and contributed to infrastructure projects, including the Outdoor Centre at Little Cataraqui Conservation Area.

With your significant financial contributions, your gifts of time and energy, and your commitment and support of our fundraising events, we have been able to fund the many accomplishments of the past 60 years – so THANK YOU!

To commemorate our 60th anniversary and to thank the community for their support, we have reached    out through some exciting and innovative initiatives. Our theme for our 60th anniversary is Enjoying           Being in Nature and we found unique ways to explore this idea:

• Sponsored our first Fall Hiking Challenge at four of our conservation areas. Each registrant who completed three of the four hikes, received a Cataraqui Conservation Foundation commemorative badge. We had a great turnout!  The wonderful fall weather made it especially enjoyable for everyone!

• Introduced a new fundraising initiative based on the rising popularity of hiking combined with the importance of being safe in nature. We purchased hiking supplies from an Ontario supplier, including Tick Kits, First Aid Kits, bandanas, clip lights, whistles, etc.  They are all available to purchase on the Cataraqui Conservation website and with generous help from our supplier, all proceeds go to the Foundation for our fundraising efforts. https://cataraquiconservation.ca/collections/cataraqui-conservation-foundation

• Donated to the Queen’s Outdoor Field Experience Initiative items from our safety merchandise to distribute to their students who need assistance gearing up for working in the field!

• Facilitated an exciting collaboration between École secondaire publique Mille-Îles in Kingston and Cataraqui Conservation to have their students refurbish and repair picnic tables from our conservation areas.  This is an opportunity for the students to learn new skills and a practical example of recycling and reusing as well as providing a valuable service to our community.

• Provided funding towards the purchase of a Sunshade Sail for permanent installation at the Little Cataraqui Conservation area to provide shelter for the educational programs and summer camps.

• Provided funding for improvements to the parking lot at Marble Rock to allow members of our community to better access the conservation area.

• Agreed to fund a joint initiative with the Limestone District School Board and Cataraqui Conservation for a proposed capital project for the critical revitalization of the Gould Lake Barn.        This unique building has been a landmark of the education program for generations and is a vital component of the Gould Lake programs.

• Participated in the discussion for the revitalization of The Outdoor Centre at the Little Cataraqui Conservation Area.  It has been the cornerstone for the education programs as well as many other events, both educational and community based, for over four decades.  This will be the next major project for the Foundation, and we hope to have more to say next year!

• Provided our annual contribution to Cataraqui Conservation education programs. Their immersive learning experiences through the Nature Explorer Camps, school visits, and curriculum-based education programs for our students, early learners and pre-schoolers are a source of pride for our community. These programs continue to provide an opportunity for young people to come to Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area and the Mac Johnson Wildlife Area to experience and learn about nature and their environment.

It has been a productive 60th   Anniversary year thanks to you! Please know that your contributions, no matter the amount, have all contributed to the work of the Foundation and the work of Cataraqui Conservation over the past 60 years!

Please join with us through your financial donation to make the next 60 years as successful and vital as the past 60 years!

Please see the contribution form enclosed or make your donation on our secure web site at  www.cataraquiconservationfoundation.com/get-involved

There are many ways to give. Perhaps consider the option of providing ongoing support with a monthly donation, make a purchase from our new merchandise from the Cataraqui Conservation Shop, consider joining our Board or reaching out to volunteer for one of our community fundraisers. Please contact us on our website if you are interested.

Together, we can continue the work of the Foundation in preserving our environment and securing our future.

Sincerely,

Carol Murphy
